Support The Dome
The Dome is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works hard to keep costs as low as possible for its users and the Alaskan community. While The Dome is largely self-sustaining through its operations, the organization does not have funds immediately available for large one-time capital expenditures like replacing the structural fabric.
All proceeds go toward funding this project and keeping The Dome open for another 20-25 years.

What is the fabric?
The Dome is an air-supported building, where the structure of the facility is created by continuously inflating a large fabric membrane. The walls and ceiling are made of a specialty fabric. Summer 2027 will see The Dome’s fabric deflated, replaced, and reinflated so we can provide another 20-25 years of access to our community!
How much money is The Dome aiming to raise?
The Dome needs to raise $6 million to pay for the project. This cost includes all designs, permits, materials, and labor to replace the fabric shell and other related components in order to keep the facility running.
Who is paying for this project?
This project is expected to be funded through a combination of philanthropic grants, major gifts, commercial debt, The Dome’s own reserves, corporate contributions, and individual donations. Please consider making a contribution to help us keep The Dome going for another 20-25 years!
How can people donate to support The Dome's fabric replacement?
People can donate using the form above. If individuals would prefer to write a check, please drop off or mail to 6501 Changepoint Drive, Anchorage, AK, 99518.
Individuals can give using their Donor Advised Funds (DAF). Support The Dome through your DAF by recommending a grant to Anchorage Sportsplex (that’s the legal business name for The Dome), our EIN is 30-0274501.
Individuals can also give using A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs). This is a tax-smart way to support The Dome’s fabric replacement project. A QCD lets you transfer funds directly from a taxable IRA to The Dome—potentially counting toward your required minimum distribution while excluding the gift from your taxable income.
If individuals or families are interested in making a planned gift to The Dome, the organization is available to assist. Bequests and other named gifts within wills or estate plans must go to Anchorage Sportsplex (the legal name of The Dome). We recognize that bequests may not be contributed to The Dome before the fabric is replaced, but those gifts have considerable impact for the organization to deliver community health.

Who benefits from keeping The Dome going?
Thousands of Alaskans! On average, 1,000 people per day use the space for their own health: walking, running, playing sports, physical therapy, lifting weights, training, and more! The Dome is also home to an amazing group of non-profits, community institutions, individual trainers, teams, leagues, and collectives – they rely on The Dome as their indoor home.
What happens to my Dome Membership?
Dome Memberships will automatically freeze as soon as the facility is closed and will reactivate as soon as the facility opens again. The term of memberships will essentially extend for the length of the closure. For example, if you have four months left on your membership when we close the facility, then you will have four months left on your membership when the facility opens again.
