Summer Camp COVID-19 Mitigation Plan

This document describes the measures taken by the Anchorage Sportsplex, Inc. (“The Dome”) to minimize the spread of COVID-19 during its Summer Camp. It is subject to change in the face of new information, updated best practices, or government orders. These protective measures are based on advice from public health experts and are intended to protect The Dome’s employees and the public.

The mitigation practices outlined in this document are specific to day camp operations at The Dome.

  1. Employee screening
    1. Employees will be screened before every shift by answering a series of questions about their travel and symptoms. Their answers will be recorded. Any employee experiencing symptoms including fever within the last 72 hours, or who has been in close contact with a confirmed case within the previous 5 days, will not be allowed to work.

      2. Discussions about camper behavior and similar issues will be conducted by telephone.
      3. General camp communication will be conducted through e-mail.
      4. Urgent and timely communication between the camp and parents/guardians will be conducted by telephone and text message.
  1. Entrance screening & logging
    1. Every camper will be screened before each day of camp, and their results logged, using a custom screening page located at https://thedome.us/camp-screening/.
      1. Screening questions are asked of the camper’s parent or guardian, and include:
        1. “Have they been in contact with anybody with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 in the past 5 days?”
        2. “Are they currently experiencing any of these symptoms? Cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, new loss of taste or smell, vomiting or diarrhea, or sore throat?”
        3. “Have they had a fever in the last 24 hours?”
      2. Campers who answer “yes” to any of these 3 screening questions will not be allowed to enter the building.
  1. Face coverings
    1. Face coverings are optional for all staff and campers, except as provided in Section XI.
    2. If a camper is wearing a mask, camp staff will assist to ensure masks are worn properly, covering both the nose and mouth.
    3. If COVID-19 case rates worsen and/or as official health guidelines are updated, masks may become required again for all staff and campers.
  1. Shared items
    1. Shared items have been minimized.
      1. All campers have an individual cubby (plastic tote) where they will store their possessions including food.
